Being Right vs. Getting it Right

Being right vs. getting it right. Being right or coming up with the right answer is an investment in "now." We are often reacting to an acute problem and solving it. Getting it right is an investment in the future. Getting it right is creating a culture of trust and empowerment, allowing others to create and come up with the right answers. Making this transition can be difficult, as many leaders have risen to power through their ability to solve problems and come up with solutions, i.e. "being right". Once in leadership, we are tempted to use these old habits of success while leading. Unfortunately, this often disempowers and weakens the team long term.
